I do a lot of resin kits, and use several ways of removing the blocks.
1. razor saw
2. scoring and snapping
3. sanding.
I don't use a Dremel since I can get better control, and keep my fingers, eyes, and the blood inside using simple hand tools.
For any major grinding such as hollowing out something I then will don the safety equipment, such a safety goggles and dust mask before starting to grind or sand the resin.

Ditto ^ on the tools. A razor saw works great.
I don't worry about the safety equipment though. I like living on the edge.
