...is that normal? I bought it a few weeks ago and it was like that from day one. It's not bad, when you have to fill bigger gaps (just "smear" it on the gap, and push it in with finger), but the fact that it's falling apart in crumbles makes it hard to fill thin, delicate lines.
Can someone please advise me on this? Should I dilute it with acetone? (I'm looking for a toothpaste-like consistency in a putty.)

Definately not normal. I have a tube that I have been using for over seven years...still fresh. They will probably replace it for you.

I use Tamiya extra Thin Cement when I need to Thin down my Squadron Green putty...

I have recently converted to using the tamiya putty thinned with acetone. In my opinion it is MUCH better than the squadron putty.
