Matt,

Can this be a "reproduction" or new "represetation" of a modeling tool on the market? For instance, NO WAY am I spending $60+ on a piece of metal that bends grab handles. I use pliers right now, but when you need to make 9 identical handles, pliers are not the best way, nor do they generally go large enough. I have an idea (don't know of it's originality, but...) for a "device" that would be very easy to make and very simple (almost I D 10 T proof) to use. With the proper tools (which I have), it shouldn't take much more than a couple hours to "design, build, redesign/modify, and test" and some more time to make it "pretty."

Oh, for sake of copywrite issues, it would not look the same, but do the same in a different (and I hope) and more effiecient manner.

Mike,

"Knock-off's" are acceptible. ANY kind of Homemade Tool ,Jig Fixture ot whatever (as long as it's used for modeling) is acceptable.

My List:

Magnetic building Jig
Small Vise
I've already Made several Members PE bending tools (Keenan made mine for me before I had a Milling machine)

I Have a few other Ideas depending on time (my Free time that is)

Make a tool, huh? A tool.....a....tool.....make ..... a tool.

Ya know, I'm looking at my toolbench and the closest thing I have to a homemade tool is a couple of clothespins I reversed and trimmed in a couple of ways. Gosh. It's such a good idea for a campaign, but, I haven't had to make a tool yet.
I am so looking forward to seeing some good, homemade tools, though.

maybe it'll give me an idea or two when I see some.

Matt, is this your campaign? What kinds of tools would qualify? Would silicone molds be tools? I have a few ideas and some home made tools that work great.

Youre going to laugh, but do you know what I use to aid in making molds?? Lego! Its the easiest made mold box you'll ever use. And you can make it to whatever shape, size, height etc you want. I read it here somewhere, and thought "Hey! I still have my old Lego's up in the attic!" Ever since then, thats what I use LOL My wife looks at me a bit funny sometimes when she sees me "playing with lego", but then again, I stopped caring what she thinks right after the honey moon LOL

Hi Matt

I just signed up. Now to get the old thinking cap on and come up with one of those things you just can't do without, once you work out what it is :-)

Hi! I don’t know what I am going to make yet, perhaps the clothespins thing I did can serve double duty? How about asking everyone out there- what they wish existed, worked better, had a hard time with or were unsatisfied with the results on. Using the results to compile a list of potential projects. Even if more than one person works on the same tool, perhaps each of them will come up with a feature that when combined make the ok tool an uber tool!

Redshirt - Sure they'll work..... a "how to" on the modifications in the for the clamps will make it good (like a couple of pics of the construction)
