Welcome Walt ,I go along with what you say ,Sometimes I make a model & put on decals & accesories that just suit my taste because I think it will look good or look right. I suppose when you post your pictures if thats made clear you wont get that kind of feedback we are talking about .
Recently I struggled to choose between doing a white UN version or green version of a Komatsu LAV in Iraq because Ive got the Tamiya modern decal sheet A. & some leftovers from a Warrior. I went for green because experimenting with white scared me.

Well said! You have put in place your own parameters, but let's view them as just that, and not as limitations! Detail can equate to fun... Sometimes
