Get some styrene I-beams, too. That way you can cut the I-beams and build the Cullins cutters very much like the real ones were made.

Hi Mojimbo,
I have a set, can't remember which kit they came with, but your welcome to them. PM me you address and I'll send them over if you like.
Cheers
Al

Thanks for the replies guys..
Thomas: thanks for the idea for using the plastruct I-beam.... though they are hard to find over here, I'll try to look around. Does anyone know the hedgerow cutters' measurements in 1/35?
Alan: PM sent... thanks!

I'm doing one for my M8 HMC. I think Tamiya put one into one of the light tank kits, but I'm guessing it would be way out of scale. I'g going with angle iron rather than I beam, as in the pics at this site:

I know it's not for the Sherman, but it gives a very good idea of the construction.

Gday MoJimbo
Which armored division are you going to represent?
There were differences between them...Most were made from Rommel's 'asparagus' beach defences which were just junk piled on the beaches...
This would be from the 3rd AD methinks, as they used this version which was called the "Rhino", differing from the conventional (!?) by way of the triangular plates either side...
IIRC the 3rd AD only equipped about a quarter of their tanks whereas the 2nd AD equipped approx. three quarters...
Hope this helps!
Cheers

18bravo.. thanks for the link! Those close-up pics might just be useful...
Thanks for the info and pic Brad! Mmmm.. I don't mind doing either a 2AD or a 3AD vehicle, as both shermans in them had the OD/black camo, which is what I intend to do to the kit.
I know there are 5 or 6 variants of the hedgerow cutters, but do they go specifically to a particular unit? Or perhaps it doesn't matter?

Can you scale from the pics???
You know Sprocket size *A*---therefore "Prongs "are slightly longer *A1*
You know width between horns *Z*--so divide by 4 to give positions of Prongs... *** I-I+I-I ***
Some pics
hope this helps

Hey MoJimbo, that second last pic from Pat is a great overhead shot of the 'Rhino', and I think you should build it!

Here's mine, actually based on that one b&w photo posted by Pat ("M4 Sherman with 76mm gun") Just guesstimated the measurements from the photo. Actually, this is the second version, the first one was too big and looked comical!
Cheers,
Jim

Pretty much, but there looks to be two prongs in Pats pic between the 2 triangle blades, to my one... Both are 3AD though!
