People! What makes you decide to build a certain subject, may it be an aircraft, a tank, a ship and so on? Is it a new kit that you have always wanted? A picture? A story? Maybe even family history? Just a wee bit curiouhsd hrer/l.l..

For me it's usually a creative inspiration, it could be a photo that strikes a cord or a scene that looks very creative and cool. Sometimes it's the vehicle that does it sometimes the story or scene.

It can be from any subject area for me.

Same thing here, creative inspiration. My ideas come in flashs, usually when i do listen to music. With time passing by, I managed to focus these flashs in 25x20 cms bases which is very useful for further dioramas developpements

I just build things that interest me.
Seeing other peoples work has always been inspiring, and has enticed me many times into building subjects I never would have tried.

I'm in the same boat, I like to build what interests me.. Mind you, I am currently leaning towards large scale stuff.. Don't know how I'm going to get this past SWMBO though...

Id have to say creative inspiration, things that interest me and the possibility to try new techniques!

I mostly build WW2 armor/figures/dios but have been drawn outside this, by things that looked cool or I took a sudden fancy to!
For a long time I had no interest at all, in Panthers, and didnt find them particuraly cool either, but my last model finished, was a Panther. The Hetzer went in this class as well ... got quite a few plans for that now!

The creativity side, tends to draw me more towards dios and bases. I see things in real life, books,TV, conversations, other models, etc, etc, etc, and I want to try it, or to expand on it, or ....

Sometimes a new technique is best suited to a particular environment or time or subject, so I´ll happily build for that (although I have no particular interest in it), just to try the new technique(s).

I must have some sort of attention deficit disorder. I'm all over the place in my builds. Modern, WWII, axis, allied, no rhyme or reason. Just whatever strikes my fancy at the time...
