This may sound stupid, but how do you guys glue styrene parts together?
I primarily use Tamiya extra fine by holding the two pieces together and touching the seam with the dapened brush (cappilery action), but I always have a trace of glue left in the surrounding area. When I looked at a pre painted build on this site done by guys like Vinnie, there is not a trace of glue anywhere.
Is there a better glue and/or technique.
Thanks ahead.

CA (superglue) works.... I use both CA and the Tamiya Extra Fine as well. Sometimes it's easier to place some in the joint prior to putting th 2 Pieces together......

IF you get a bit of extra glue and are worried about it, just either carefully scrape the excess off or remove it with steel wool. If it is not too excessive, you probably will not notice it once painted. Of course thats one of the advantages to priming, you can easily tell any flaws before doing the full painting.

What size is that brush? I use the smallest worn out old paint brush
I can find and cut off everything except 5-10 of the hairs/bristles.
For larger joins I sometimes use a larger brush but then I add the
solvent from the inside or some other spot where it will be invisible
later.
Is that glue you are using a pure solvent or is there something more
in it? Put a drop of it on a clean piece of glass or metal or similar and
let it evaporate. If there is anything left afterwards it contains something
more than solvent and then I would start using something else if I were
you.

I use a Loew-Cornell 7350 Liner 18/0 from Hobby Lobby. It cost about $2.50 on sale. Allows good control of application and the length of the bristle will get into hard to reach areas.
