OK folks, am I the only guy here that usually gets through about 3/4 of a bottle of CA glue before the tip becomes totally junked up and clogged? I try to keep the tip as clean as possible and allow the glue to flow back down out of the tip before capping. But the bottle Im using now is about toast. The tip is all knarly looking and I have to slip a needle down the tip just to get a drop or two out. Any tips, tricks or help out there??

I'm looking forward to seeing some responses to your thread. You're certainly not alone, at least I have the same issues. The only tip I've ever heard is never buying the big bottles, since you're not getting that much more as you do the small ones before they clog up.

Wow, I was gonna post the same question. I get frustrated, I only get thru half the tube, and its toast. Ive tried all kinds of things to keep it clean. Try to keep glue out of nozzle (upright) is the only thing that prolongs life for me.

I clean out the tip of my super glue bottle with acetone. Yes fingernail polish remover with acetone will work as well. I had to chip away the old hard crusty stuff before I cleaned the tip.
Try this little trick and see if it works for you guys.....
P.S. Don't steal the wife's or girlfriend's polish remover....
It's pretty cheap at Wal-Mart.

Apparently acetone / nail polish remover works for smoothing some modelling putties too.
I bought some and it made a horrible, blobby mess of the Revell putty but I'll try it again with the Tamiya stuff. Unfortunately SWMBO doesn't use nail polish so I have to go and buy bottles of the remover myself.
DO NOT do this whilst also buying the nail sanding sticks (whatever the swmbos' call them) you get some very funny looks.

I use Loctite "Super Glue" in the Goofproof bottles for both liquid and CA gel. http://www.loctiteproducts.com/products/detail.asp?catid=15&subid=34&plid=195&PID=573
Picked these up at Lowe's a while back and have never had a problem with the tips clogging. Their design makes it so you have to squeeze the sides and when that squeeze is released, the glue is drawn all the way back into the bottle and it sits with the tip always upright.

I picked this up on a whim quite a while ago and have had no problem. The squeeze sides make it much easier to control how much glue comes out as well. I don't think I'll be able to go back to the normal tubes.

I use Zap-A-Gap and replace the supplied tip with a SIG CA Applicator tip (Short). Occasionally the tip will clog at the very end. I take it off and push a piece of music wire through it from the base. If you clear the clog from the tip end you push the hardened CA down into the tip. Over time these small pieces of CA will accumulate and make it almost impossible for fresh CA to come out.
