General Order # 214903 – HQ 3rd U.S. Army
Subject: Activation of the Newest AMPS Chapter
Date: 1 January 2007

By General Order the activation is made of a new AMPS chapter serving the Louisville and Fort Knox areas. The newest chapter of the Armor Modeling Preservation Society (AMPS) is officially known as the Louisville ~ Fort Knox Armor Modeling Preservation Society (AMPS) "Patton's Best" Chapter.

Our membership of armor modelers is newly founded and our mission is to have fun without any of the associated hassles connected with other modeling groups. The chapter’s goal is not to compete with other modeling clubs but to offer a venue dedicated to those interested in armor modeling.

Meetings are held at the Louisville Bon Aire Library located at 2816 Del Rio Place (off Bardstown Road and Goldsmith Lane - Phone 574-1795) on the 1st and 3rd Saturday of each month (9:00 a.m. until noon). At these “Tankshops” members build armor models, swap books, stories, ideas, and help each other out.

Occasionally members will setup displays in the Bon Aire and other metro libraries which features built and unbuilt kits, in-progress projects, reference materials and anything else connected to armor. There is a display currently at the Bon Aire library and another display scheduled for the Southwest branch library which will run mid-January through mid-February.

To kick off “Patton’s Best” AMPS Chapter register to win a free kit. Throughout January and February 2007 tankers and troopers can participate in a free kit drawing by registering for the drawing through the club’s website: www.pattonsbest.com

It is our desire that our chapter is an extension of the AMPS national affiliation that provides some useful information for those who share our interests. For more information, you may contact Captain Jonathan S. Tuttle at: [email protected]

Actually, the Military Modeler's Club of Louisville is both an IPMS and AMPS affliated organization. The website for the club is down right now for some reason (it was up less than a week ago). We just had our monthly meeting on Thursday, December 21.
