I was looking through the cast list for BoB on IMDB.com and noticed how many british actors are actually in the movie. I thought that Damian Lewis, Shane Taylor, and Ross McCall were the only foriegn actors. Here is a list that I havef established:

Damian Lewis - Winters
Rick Warden (? listed as going to Cambridge) - Welsh
Dexter Fletcher - Martin
Ross McCall (Scotish) - Liebgott
Shane Taylor - Doc Roe
Robin Laing (Scotish? he play a Scotish soldier in Jouiex Noel) - Babe
Matthew Leitch - Tab
Marc Warren - Blithe
Peter Youngblood Hills (South African by birth/ half brit by parents) - Powers
Mark Huberman - Hashey
Nicholas Aaron (? went to a royal academy) - Wynn

Lucie Jeanne (French) - Renee (Roe "Girlfriend")
Wolf Kahler (German) - German general that gives speach to his troops
Luke Roberts - Herb Suerth
Rocky Marshall - McClung

Ben Peyton - Warr. Off. Andrew Hill (dont know who the hell this is)
William Tapley - Paige (British Tank Commander in Market Garden)

Jamie Harding - French boy on train in Paris
Isabella Seibert (German) - "Gets friendly with" Janovec
Christoph Dostal (Austrian) - Senior German
Anatole Taubman (born in Brit/ grew up in Swiss) - Otto Herzfeld ( )
Graham Seed - Red Beret Brigadeir General during rescue

Numerous German POWs, soldiers, the Red Berets, and civilians, were played by german, british, or dutch actors, and extras. Ironically a large number of the German POWs and soldiers plus the one Hoobler kills (a stunt man) on the horse and some of the extras are american and/or part of the crew making guest appearances.

Simple reason is that it was filmed in a British Studio and on location in Britain and Europe so it's much cheaper to use British and European actors. They also look more like Americans did 60 odd years ago, shorter and with bad teeth :-)

Wolf Kahler (German) - German general that gives speach to his troops

Anyone ever thought to translate this speech? I've always wondered what was said...

Simon Pegg - Evans (frankly I dont remeber him)

Great list Matt.

Simon Pegg played Evans who was Sobel's right hand man. He was the guy who drove up in the jeep to give Winters his Court Martial papers and he was also the guy who freaked out on Lt. Meehan's plane just before it got hit.

And didn't Damien Lewis do a bang-up job as Winters? If I hadn't seen him in other roles I would have taken him for an American.

Doesn't Liebgott translate it as he says it? Anyway, according to Wikipedia the translation is:

"Men, it's been a long war, it's been a tough war. You've fought bravely, proudly for your country. You're a special group. You've found in one another a bond, that exists only in combat, among brothers. You've shared foxholes, held each other in dire moments. You've seen death and suffered together. I'm proud to have served with each and every one of you. You all deserve long and happy lives in peace."

Yeah the generals speach is translated by webster or liebgott as it is being given.

Was Evans the first sergeant who everyone hated because he was Sobels friend?

If you didn't know better, this could well have been a speech by the Americans. Strange that...
