This year marks the 100th anniversary of the formation of the Corps of Canadian Engineers. The Permanent Force component (Regular) became the Corps of Royal Canadian Engineers (RCE)a year later, The Non-Permanent (Militia)component recieving the honour in 1936. When the Canadian forces became a unified force in 1968, the Corps became the Branch of Canadian Military Engineers (CME), having absorbed the Civil Engineering Branch of the Royal Canadian Navy and Construction Engineers of the Royal Canadian Air Force. Members of the RCE and later the CME have served in Both World Wars, Korea, every Peacekeeping mission Canada has been involved in and most recently, in Afghanistan.

The offical Branch cheer is "Chimo!"' which is an Inuit greeting.

So to all at Armorama and to all Military Engineers worlwide, I bid you Chimo!
