There is something slightly voyeuristic about reading others bios so I guess I have join in to make it right.
I am fifty mumble, have absolutley no interest in war or things that go bang, and am having a major identity crisis since starting my first armour model, a Tamiya Centurion in January. I have been an enthusiastic modeller since my first Airfix Spitfire in the mid-fifties (gee that was last century) and have built 1/72 aircraft, 1/32 cars including slot cars during the sixties, and then settled on 1/24 cars, mainly Ferrari - until now.
My main interests are cars and bikes, I own a '93 Toyota MR2, a '90 BMW K75s and a Norton 650SS cafe racer.
The Centurion has been a real challenge. I bought it as a quickie when I found the Fujimi model of the Toyota MR2 was going to require major surgery for accuracy and lost interest. I thought a weekend tank build would get me fired up to solve the Fujimi problems. Little did I realise that the Centurion was also going to need a lot of work. So far I have devoted about 60 hours to it and think I am about half way.
Unfortunately the bug has bit. I still think armies are just to keep our handies on, but already the next armour project has been purchased, a Tamiya Chieftain. That should see me through the winter. The Centurion has given me the opportunity to explore new modelling techniques, - well they are new to me, - and the next thing I want to try is a base, and then a diorama. I might never build another car model. (Unlikely as I have a cupboard full of unopened kits)
I have visited several modelling sites and I 'enlisted' with Armorama when I realised that it was the site that I just kept coming back to. Already I have had helpful responses to my niaive questions and hope I can sometime contribute something useful myself.
Regards Dave

Welcome to the best site on the internet. We welcome all modeling genres.
Heck one of our space guys just built a car!!! And you don't have to love war to love modeling armour.
There are two rules here (well sorta) 1. Build to enjoy it, 2. Ask any question.

Welcome Dave. You sure picked an oldie to work on as a weekend kit. I'd have suggested Tamiya's Centaur or Cromwell as a superb British armor kit for a weekend build. Leave some glue by the box and it'll build itself.

Hi Dave
I've only been on this site for a couple weeks and I'm already hooked by it. I'm sure you will be too. The amount of good information, and friendly, helpful people is fantastic.
Also so glad to welcome somebody interested in modeling the "good guys." The world has enough panzers already.

Hi Dave!! From another car modeler. Tanks are an interesting diversion, but don't stray too far from your shiny, chromy roots.
And a real big salute from another MR2 owner.

Hello and welcome from one newbie to another. Have a great time here, but be forewarned! Once you come to this site, you may never go anywhere else! It's not like that's necessarily a bad thing, but time consuming.
