I know a couple of others and myself have dabbled a bit with making photo-etch at home. I've just moved to another home and have yet to get to my building area set up. I've been planning on dong a SBS, but I don't know if anybody else will do it beore me. I've got other things planned right now, when I do get my building area finished, so it won't be untill late feb, early march before I make an attempt at it. Sorry to not be of any help!

Aripin, why do you even want to make your own photo etch? You can buy the stuff reasonably cheap to begin with. Its enough work most of the time just adding the photo etch to the model, let alone making your own. Here in the US most etched kits cost between 10-20 bucks. Not to mention the brass for photo etching isnt really cheap to begin with. I guess I could understand making your own if a kit isnt available, but IMHO, its more cost and time effective to just buy the kit that is already out. Well, if you attempt it, I wish you luck.

In a modelling sense you live in model-heaven. 10-20 bucks per PE would be great and dandy, but that is not the case where I live. I live in modelling outer-darkness so to speak, so I do my own PE to both save money and do exactly what I want (when I want... etc, etc so forth and so on) Many aren't as fortunate as you are to have a large market to pan from...

Safe as a meth-lab?? I thought a meth-lab was dangerous! My experience is far from dangerous. Sorry if I disagree with your conclusion.
If this is the case then modelling is far more dangerous.

I don't think it is any more dangerous than any other part of modeling, although I have never done it.
The electronics guys have been doing it for years. It is the same process used to etch circuit boards.

Do you know how to make a meth lab??? I need to do some side work to fund my modelling habbits :-)
As far as living in modelling heaven, we ALL live in modelling heaven. If you can read this post you can buy the same stuff I do. I buy almost everything off the internet as I have only one hobby store in the area, and the store is so small, and their supply is so horribly limited, I simply buy everything here. Well, I will say, I do admire your ambition. I like to scratch build a lot of my own stuff, but making my own photo etch is where I draw the line and call it madness LOL :-) Again, good luck on your endeavor.

Hello,
Etching... easy stuff after you spend some time over it. Nothing dangerous at all.
I have written some bits and pieces:
