One thing I do a lot if I start running into login problems is to clear out my cookies and log back in. In IE - click Tools, Internet Options, 1st tab - delete cookies.
Close IE and open it again and try again.

First thing to do is check your email account spam folder..
Hotmail automaticaly sends the confirmation email to the spam folder.
