Here you go everyone. I''ve made my video debut (no Oscar nomination here).
This feature is for ANY genre that has to deal with production chrome parts - what do you do when you scratch it or nick it or need to get rid of it to start over.
This feature looks at three common products - Coke, 409, Soft Scrub.

Very well done and useful Scott. I had just read about the Coke method and was considering it. I had never heard of the 409 or soft scrub methods. In the past I've used oven off. Looks like 409 is a much faster, easier method. Thanks for taking the time to do this.

It's good (pause) that you were (pause) speaking slowly. No just kidding, very well done indeed! I do like this media! I could see several uses mainly in the line of what you did. Painting, airbrushing techniques etc....

Unfortunately I'll have to see what is available as neither 409 or Soft Scrub are available in Sweden. I'm sure there is something similar as Plasticbattle (Frank Glacklin) has had good results with something available here.

Great video Scott, Bravo… real nice presentation. I myself stand by the many degreasers out for removing paint and chrome. The product I found to work best is Simple Green, it’s non toxic, safe and smells minty. In those little nooks and crannies, I take the hobby knife and scratch the insides, then soak. It helps to loosen up the plating.

In my opinion,this is one of the most useful features of Kitmaker. The style of preseantation helps a few times more than photos and I am sure listening your voice as watching the video is quite easier than checking the photos as reading the text. This can bring another dimension to our features and we must try to make more like this.

I guess I'm a little late in joining the thread but I've been away for awhile. Good job onthe video Scott. Like Joe I use Simple Green and also Liquid Plumber. While the LP is quite a bit more caustic than other stuff, it takes the chrome plating off in seconds. I removed all the chrome off of a 1/16 front engine rail dragster I have in about a minute...if that. Thanks again for the feature. "Q"
