what the article fails to mention (for obvious reasons) is that the 1735 Witchcraft Act was repealed to be replaced by the 1951 Fraudulent Mediums Act.

Interesting stuff. I've never heard of Helen Duncan, and I happen to believe that Witches are generally just people who want to rebel against society, the facts as written in this article would seem to justify a pardon.

Helen Duncan is allegedly supposed to have recognised that the sailor was from Barham by his cap tally, even though these deliberately didn't show the name of the ship for security reasons.
