Gotta love any article that contains the line "Bureaucracy gone mad"...
I notice the mulled wine appeared to slip under their radar :-)
All boils down to the same point for me...Borne from a personal lack of responsibility, leading to no accountability, which leads to litigation, which leads to feeble court rulings based on a lack of common sense at both ends of the story... and voila! Sad state of affairs...
Bah, humbug!

I'm with Dave on this one. I suppose misery loves company and it's nice to know that things are just as insane on your side of the pond as ours.

On a local tangent, a country town which my mum resides in has local council tip operators. One morning the operator slipped on the poorly designed/mantained steps from the office, badly injuring his back... The council arrived the next day and yanked the steps out to take to their depot, thus removing the evidence before photos etc and any recriminations...
*You may guess the next part*
The steps were duly taken to the tip from the council depot, where they were recovered and photographed, and I believe there is a court case pending... :-) :-) :-)

ohhh how I could go on about this, but then I'd be breaking this forum's rules. I'll just say that it is pathetic.

When I was a Police man I got involved in the christmas dont drink and drive campaign where i worked with local council officials, all went well and I was quite satisfied with the outcome,so off I go home picks up the local paper banner headline, Council refuses licence to new pup stating that the car park wasnt big enough. I rest my case.

Thanks for your thoughtfulness! I'm getting along rather well actually, I'll be doing some modelling when the modelling area in the new house is finished. But I'm going to keep on biking. I've been entered in a 300km race so I need to keep up my pace...

Sounds like the idiots who are on the city councils in Canada, too. Just goes to show that you don't need brains to be in politics.

And remember the saying, "Common sense is very uncommon."
