FROM; Barrister Ede Nkojoh.
Nkojoh Chambers, 12 Embassy Road,
Accra-Republic of Ghana.

Dear Friend Field,

Greetings. I wish this very information will not come to you as a Surprise and please pardon me for using this medium to contact you, it is because of the urgent attention required by this request. I am Barrister Ede Nkojoh a solicitor at law and personal attorney to a national of your country and a member of your family since he had the same family name with you Mr. Peter G.Field , Herein after referred to as my client and who owns STT PETROCHEMICAL SERVICING COMPANY here in Ghana. On the 25TH FEB 2002, my client, his wife and their only son were involved in a car accident along Tema express Road here in Ghana. All occupants of the vehicle unfortunately lost their lives. Since then I have made several enquiries to your embassy here to locate any of my clients extended relatives, this has also proved unsuccessful. This my client, has a Company account With International Commercial Bank , here in Ghana, totaling US$6.52million (Six Million Five Hundred and Twenty Thousand United States Dollars). But, since that year after his death the bank has not had anyone that Comes for the claim of this money as the second next of kin to this my client, since his wife whom he made the next of kin was also involved in the crash and died also together with their only son.Since then l have made several enquiries to the embassy here to locate any of my clients extended relatives, this has also proved unsuccessful.

Now, the bank has officially written to me as his personal attorney, informing me that his account with them will run to an end in the next 30 days, and will be declared permanently dormant and transferred to the bank's treasury if not claimed before the 30 days notice. As his personal attorney and having monitored this deposit over the years, before and after his death, and hence nobody has showed up as the second next of kin for the past years now, and after these several unsuccessful attempts, l have reasoned very professionally and l feel it will be legally proper to present you as his next of kin since you bear the same last name with him so as to claim out this money before it is transferred to the Bank's treasury where other people may as well claim it directly without going to this length. I have taken every necessary precautionary measures concerning this issue and arrangement has been concluded by me in achieving this goal since l have all his personal and company's information. This does not have any risk attached to it, provided you will give me your assistance and support and also follow my directives during the process.

I therefore request you to confirm your interest by a return message and I will furnish you with the full details and what to do concerning this claim.and please also include your direct phone numbers. What you stand to gain would be discussed and it is negotiable before the claim commences. Please let this be just between two of us only.Thank you in anticipation of your urgent response.

Kind regards,
Barrister Ede Nkojoh.

I think the figure is £8 million a year lost to email scams in the UK alone. God alone knows what they get world wide.

Here in the US, the FBI has a "419 Task Force" which looks at this junk. For about 3 years, I faithfully reported everyone of those I got to both the ISP it came from (or my best guess at same) and the the 419 TF.

I don't get very many any more and I think reporting that stuff is important. Every ISP should have an "abuse@...." email to take these complaints. Forward the whole message to include all the header info to them.

Every once in a while there is an article here about someone who should have known better (by dint of education, etc) but got sucked in. Amazing -- not that innocent people get stung, but that so many expect to get something for nothing & get sucked in.

This guy has made an art out of dealing with 419 scammers. The site is hilarious!

I have been sent on several calls where people where reporting that they had been scammed in this manner. The most common origin for these is Nigeria, and the scam listed above has several variations. One of our departments detectives does nothing but computer crime, fraud, child porn etc. and he said that there really is not a whole lot that can be done legally as most of the criminals are overseas and beyond our juristictional reach. Rule of thumb is only deal with companies you now are legit and dont link to a companies web site but rather type it in yourself.
