This is my build thread for Stephen's (Jackflash) Eduard/Gavia competition thingy that i won't win :-) .
Eduards, 1/48 Weekend edition Albatros D.V. Being built OOB, so no P.E, one set of decals and hoping to complete this in 3 days .

Today i have managed to complete the interior and close up the fuselage.
Rowans "easy wood grain" technique was used for the main parts. Tamiya acrylics, Revell enamels, Mr Color acrylics, Alclad 2 and Winsor and Newton poster and oil paints were used.


Next i will try to get the main fuselage, upper and lower wings drilled and sprayed.

Looking good Andy. I do like these WWI aircraft in all their bright colours.

Thanks Luciano. They certainly are more colourful then later aircraft. How many aircraft do you know that have purple on their wings :-) . You should definitely try a W.W.1 biplane, they require a little more work, but they sure are addictive.

Thanks Lewis. I won't win, Ive seen the competition .
I have managed to get the fuselage and wings painted and Kleared ready for the decals. The lower wing is glued on, but the rigging you can see is not glued yet.
The undercarriage assembly and struts are about to go into the spray booth.
Anything else i achieve tonight will be a bonus .

Thanks Mal. The competition closes on the 30th November. The only reason i should make the deadline is because I'm off this week. This is my second try at the comp, as my first entry, a Hanriot H.D 1 was dropped on the floor by some clumsy oaf (me) :-) .

Youve really nailed that wood effect (we will have to talk!), and that purple is a great colour!
I think I might have bought the same kit at Telford?,,I dunno,,I bought so many,,LOL
3 days?,,I would LOVE to have 3 days to devote to modelling

Thanks Nige. Yes i think you did buy the same kit :-) .
As i got dragged down to Dorset at the weekend, to stay at the in-laws ( my punishment for Telford), i took the Albatros with me.
The in-laws weren't impressed with me ignoring them while i rigged it :-), but i have now finished it.

Not to take anything away from the entries on the competition table at Telford,,but I reckon if we all put something in next year we stand a good chance of walking away with a few "gongs".
Andy and I have discussed the general standard of builds on display at various shows on many occasions and we think our stand has a very high overall standard of builds.
Theres an outside chance that one or two of us might get a bit good at this modelling lark with a few more lifetimes practice :-)

andy, by looking at your post dates it took you around five days to complete that very nice kit - thats lightspeed by my standards! best of luck with your entry

not if it was seen from directly above! if (and its a big if!) i ever built another i would replace the booms with metal to stop the "flying banana" effect

Next is tidying up the workbench, followed by possibly a couple of reviews, then maybe a Revell 1/48 S.E 5, maybe .

I propose a group build on our site. Each member starts a thread about the build and post pics and tips at each stage. Gloves off on the comments, so any mistakes/ cock ups can be rectified and you never know we might get really good at this .

Definately a idea to include in the Bulldogs world domination master plan.
We can test the entries out in the local shows as well
