Hi Guys!

Would like to share my efforts on the SA-6 Gainful missiles from Trumpie. The ones in the kit are too long and narrow. Hope you like it!

Cheers,

Jurjen,
Could you give us a pic of one of your missiles with the Trumpeter version for a comparison. What did you make your SA-6's out off?

Well I think you have done a great job on these! I need to make some weapons of all sorts soon and I would really appreciate some tips. First off did you use solid rods of styrene for the main bodies? Im just sure they have solid rods of styrene, but I guess I will have to order them as they dont have them at my local any larger than 1/16".

Hi Doug and Tim!

Here I have a comparison photo:

the missile should be 9.7mm but mine is 9,5mm :-) :-)

I used for the missile an evergreen 3/8" Tube (9,5mm). Then I cut the kit missiles in two parts. Fortunately they fitted exactly in the tube so now you're able to adjust the lenght of the missile. For reshaping the front and the rear I used:

First I used the miliput for reshaping the front and the rear. Then I left it to dry for one night. The you must file, sand it down to the right shape. Once that was done I put wall filler on the front and the rear. Let it dry for 4 hours and repeat the sanding. So it is pretty smooth now. I'm curious how it will look like when painted but that's how we say in Holland, "Zorgen voor Morgen" :-)

Thanks for your interest

All I can say is wow. I'm stictly a WW2 guy but these are great. Modern aircraft have to be so dang smooth and straight. You also can,t cover up mistakes with extra gear or mud. Are these the original effort or are we looking at numbers 7,8 and 9?
