I have used some airbrushes and only one compressor throughout my hobby life.
First the compressor... It is one that I built using the compressor of a refrigerator, a pressure tank and some gadgets and hoses, so I wil not be able to advise you any specific compressor.
Second is the airbrush. I used:
1. A Russian single action internal mix airbrush, no name I can remember... Though good in construction quality and painting, it is a disaster... You watch the paint come out of the hole of the trigger and flow down on your wrist...
2. Aztek A 470... It was my hero for six years, till I heard the cracking sound of weak plastic in it... Once it had a lifetime warrany... NO it does not, once it's gone, it's gone... Oh, the metal body Aztek has the same plastic inner parts, so it would cause the same problem...
3. Badger 360... Excellent airbrush, with versatile use... You can use it as a top feed and a bottom feed at the same time. If you need larger top feed cups, you can always adapt AZTEK cups easily. Only one tip sprays fineline to broad coverage. I used my friend's 360, I loved it.
4. Badger 100 SF... As good as 360, cheaper... You may need to buy an extra size tip and needle according to your needs. Because it is side feed, you can adapt AZTEK bottom feed, side feed and gravity feed cups easily.
5. Badger 200... Bottom feed single action internal mix... I use this for large area painting, but it can be used for fineline if it has the fine tip, too. It also has a gravity feed model, which might be more suitable for a scale modeler.
6. Paasche V... The best I used. The "V Set" comes with everythig you need. Because it is side feed, you can adapt AZTEK gravity feed cups easily. Cleaning is much easier than all above. Has two different tip sizes. I am using this one for fine detail work at the moment.
Hope this helps.
Best regards.
