Hi all,

In case you guys don't know a new hobby store, Hobby Maniac, has opened in Cape Town... 286 Voortrekker Rd, Maitland to be precise.

I popped in there today. They have a very nice, albeit small at the moment, selection of plastic kits, and at excellent prices. Furthermore they are currently offering 10% off the shelf price

Check it out...

Hey Marius,

I was last there in December, but I haven't seen anything in the local IPMS rag about them shutting down, so I'm going to have to assume they are still there...

Any reason you ask?

Hobby Mania is definitely still there

They're just behind PG Autoglass in Voortrekker Rd, Maitland. It's sort of hidden as they share premises with their holding company, a tent rental place... If you're facing PG Autoglass, you'll see a gate leading to a fenced off truck lot to the left... just approach the gate... there's an intercom there but they should se you on the security monitors...

BTW, the guy in charge of the plastics section, Roland, has just joined the Kitmaker Network

Rudi

p.s. Marius, you a IPMS Cape Province member? You should come to a meeting some time

We havent seen each other for about 10 years!! How fantastic to see him again after such a long time!!

I helped him a bit to register on the armorame site. He remember u popping there last year.

So I will frequenlty pop in there for a visit.

I was a member before, Rudi

Been out of model building for a while.
But am getting back into it slowly but surely.
Must now start with air brushing-up to now all the models were hand painted-lol!

Hi Marius nice to have seen you ( nothing wrong with brush painted models- I have even won a few competitions with some).

Hope I will see a lot more of you at the shop - and any other model builders that want help, or just to chat.

I will post some pics of current projects in the course of this week, and get some of my armour into the shop for the interested.

Hey Marius,

You should come along to one of the meetings sometime

Roland,

Looking forward to seeing those pictures over on Historicus Forma.

BTW, I've been meaning to ask... I know we discussed the SIG, but have you thought about hosting figure painting or sculpting classes there at the shop? I don't know about others, but I'd be happy to pay (within reason of course ) to learn how to sculpt properly...

Chat soon

Hey Roland,

Thanks for the offer

Are the 2 of you still meeting on Saturday nights? Or have you moved it mid-week? As I mentioned the last time we spoke, weekends tend to be difficult...

Will we be seeing you at 3 Para on Friday night?

Rudi

p.s. any news on the M2 yet?

You can get decal paper from Decal Edge - (art shop). They are a countrywide chain, so they should be in your phone directory. If not I'll get the local phone number for you.

The paper is " Lekker stuff ' it goes through yer Laser printer so that you can print just about anything you can think of.

Problem is a bit of short supply so you might have to wait a while to get stock.

Cheers

HI Rudi

We can shift to a weeknight no prob. M.v.K. agrees, possibly Teusday's????. I know Greg would prefer a week night.

As regards the M2 I spoke to Louis yesterday about it and put some pressure on him, to get it ..... It's been a while now.

Will deffinitly see you at 3 Para. got a bit of a project I am working on, you find interesting. show You tomorrow.

Cheers

Hi Roland,

Thanks for following up with Louis.

And also about the SIG. I'll chat to the missus and try optain a fortnightly evening pass :-) will let you know tomorrow night.

If I'm not there... it's because I've taken a wrong turn somewhere :-) Chris' intructions weren't too clear about the last bit... I may end up at the 3 Para recruiting station by accident! :-)

Looking forward to seeing your new work... I'm too embarassed to bring mine (although you can see it over on HF... look for the WIP: Holy Land Crusader thread in the Painting>Acrylic forum). :-)

Rudi

p.s. start a thread over on HF and show them some of your stuff

Hi there,

I am just visiting this forum in my search for decal paper in the Midrand/Centurion/Pretoria area!

If anyone knows where to buy some will you please let me know as I am having no luck at hobby, stationary or art stores.

Thanks!

Marcel
