Hello,

I have a question concerning the scratch build turret schurtzen for the revell panzer IV ausf. H in Alex Clarks modeling book from Osprey http://www.ospreypublishing.com/title_detail.php/title=S8243~ser=MOD. I tried to become a member of his forum on missing linx and ask the question personaly, but the forum doesn't take any new members.

The question is; how are the three bolts made on the front part of the schurtzen? He describes how the schurtzen are made but not how the bolts are created. Can anyone please help me with this?

Regards,
Pascal

Pascal,
I've not had much practise on bolts./nuts but I've heard the easiest way to make bolt heads is to use suitably sized hex rod.
Just roll a piece of the rod on a flat surface with a sharp blade pressed gently(ish) on it to get a good even head.
Someone (Barv where are you :-) ) will probably come along with a better idea pretty soon.

Hi Tom,

Thanks for your reply. I realise now I forgot to mention the scale is 1/72 and that I used the wrong word. They are not bolts but rivets.

As far as I know I can't get hexagonal rods that small, I've been trying also to find a good way of making bolts in 1/72 as well as rivets.

Regards,
Pascal

Would a very small drop of super-glue make a good rivet in 1/72?

Hi Pascal

The forums on Missing Links are open to anyone - a few people have tried to join accidentally as moderators and then been refused. You only need to apply to the overall ML group.

You can make rivets in thin plastic - such as schurzen, by embossing them from the back using a blunt pin or needle.

Regards!

Thanks McBain I'll experiment with that.
