Wednesday October 23rd marked the 64th anniversary of the start of what's now called the Second Battle of El Alamein; the final push to get Rommel and the Italians out of Egypt and, eventually Africa.

Also included in the large Commonwealth contingent were Indian and South African units.
Not forgetting, either, that the RAF were heavily involved in the battles, under the command of Air Vice Marshal Coningham - a New Zealander born in Australia.

Great work on gathering all those websites! Your hard work sure provided some good research info. Also , it was good of you to point out that important time in history. Thanks for the heads up!

No problem! As a New Zealander born in Australia the entire North Africa/Mediterranean theatre is of constant interest.

Not forgetting, either, that the anniversary of the 'Torch' landings isn't too far away - the first time US ground forces were in combat against the Germans - mainly by proxy, via their Vichy French satellites.
