Hi Everybody, hopefully someone can help out....I'm doing a dio of a ruined German city (probably Berlin) and would like to have a torched and severely damaged civilian car in amost the rubble. Can't find nothing, I've ebayed with not much luck, I assume that Airfix made the 1:32 car kits, but all I could find was post war cars. Can anyone help out?

thanks
Kelly

I don't know how much help this may be but CMK makes a 1:35 VW bug, also Ardpol I belive or Plastik made a 1:35 VW bug. The CMK kit is better, easier to find but probably more expensive.
Comes with military decals but I would imagine you could paint it as a commercial vehicle if desired-after all, it was the vehicle for the masses.

Hi Kelly,

I found this kit for another member who was looking for a civilian car. It's a Russian car and kind of pricey but maybe it will work for you. Anyway I just thought I would let you know about it.

The CMK Volkswagens would work--made in both hardtop and "moon roof" versions, and also reboxed by Italeri. Some of the CMK boxings included extra resin detail parts. The VW bug was only in limited production during the war, about 600 all told (the bulk of VW production was devoted to the Kubelwagen and Schwimmwagen for the military, and some bugs were also issued as staff cars). Party officials were high on the list to get the bug, though, so you could justify it in Berlin. All were manufactured in gloss black, though the ones issued to the military were repainted in Dunkelgelb and cammo.
Opel and Mercedes 3-ton trucks were used almost unmodified by the military, so you could civilianize the Italeri kits easily enough.
Chevrolet exported heavily to Europe before the war, and many Ford designs were manufactured in Europe as well, so die cast models of those cars would fit--the National Motor Museum Mint makes a wide variety of 1/32 scale die casts of all periods, and most are around $10 (they have a website).
Fujimi offered a Mercedes staff car in 1/32nd scale (actually based on Mercedes taxis used in Japan before the waqr, but legitemate as military vehicles, since the Germans impressed everything in the private sector). This was boxed as a "Kommandeurwagen," and may turn up on Ebay, as it hasn't been around for many years. Palmer and Lindberg used to offer several 1930's subjects in plastic in 1/32nd, and these may turn up on Ebay also.

Hi Kelly

Ah, a man after my own heart! (or car, as it were). I've been searching all over the place for these things, preferably cheap! Most of my leads came from guys such as HARV and FRENCHY here on the 'Big A' this one seemed most promising if rather expensive (I'm saving up - ha).

Can't figure out how to do a proper link but here you go...

Keep us posted if you find anything else.

Good luck

Thanks everyone for the replies, seems like I'm not the only one looking...hmmm Dragon? Let's start 39-45 Civilian Series Line! Yah I wanna go the cheap route on this one, if I find a VW Bug, I may have to go with it, because what I have in mind is a very dented roof with some rather large building chunks on top of it, and torched....I can't bring myself to drop a ton of coin on a resin kit so "Homer Go Smash Now!" :-)

These might not be what you are looking for. I found these on eBay today. They aren't all exactly WWII era but if they are going to be mostly buried under rubble maybe they would work.
