Was finally able to get a shelf setup and bring my stock down to the unfinished wood shop.

Think its enough? :-)

(And before you ask yes that door in the back is burnt. A torch isn’t the best choice for killing bees. )

Now I’m planing on making bases for some of my models out of some of this. My question is what are some good types of wood for bases?
Especially out of Oak, Pine, Poplar, Cedar, and Mahogany but any suggestions are good as I get new wood in often.

Personally i tend to stick to hardwoods as they're a bit more stable than "soft" woods like pine..... Maple & Cherry are good ones too.... The occasional "Exotic" is nice as well

I would tend to agree with the last poster, hardwoods are less prone to warping if they get wet. A blowtorch to kill bees not a good idea

Matt think I have a large supply of rough cut maple in storage. I’ll have to try to dig some out and give it a try.

Any idea how apple would work for a base? I may be getting my hands on some.

No it was just a little propane torch. Of course the burning nest then fell onto the curtain covering those windows.
See the guy I had disassembling copper pipes was allergic to bees and didn’t want them to sting him.....

Apple could be interesting....... i know one of the sawmills up here has Cucumber from time to time....... some Species are about the same density of Oak... so I'd say it'd be stable enough.........
