The online New England S2000 group did it's semi annual ride on the Mohawk Trail on the 14th. I was photographed as we left the meeting point in Deerfield Village, site of the historic massacre in 1704.

hey Al
Nice ride. What is it? Honda? The steering wheel's on the wrong side!
There's no pedestrian under the front wheels is there? :-)

Just kidding... nice car... Dodge? Sorry, we don't really get Yank cars here in SA...

Your Honda S2000 looks so cool Al. Unfortunately the S2000 is not available in Denmark, not that I could afford it though. A car like this would, with the horrific taxes we have on cars in this country, cost $110K+

Is this better?

Naw, you have to watch out for them, the car's way too low to get over them easily. :-)

Whip? WHIP?!?!?!?!?!? :-) :-) :-) I still can't bring myself to call my car that - and I had never heard that term until s2ki . Hope you had fun, I meant to wash mine over the weekend, but seeing as it is raining here I am glad I didn't bother - another reason why I like Silverstone (hides the dirt).

Hope you had fun,

Yea, a lot of fun, Quite a spirited ride, too. Much more so than I normally drive, but it's a good confidence booster. There are a bunchof pictures posted in the New England forum at s2ki. For a change of pace, yesterday, I drove the Subaru to a contest with two other guys.

These cars do inspire washing, don't they. What I've been using is the Mr. Clean Autodry gizmo. Works great and eliminates the need to dry completely. Easyoff (my friend, Johm Boilard), turned me on to this thing.

You know, I have totally forgotten that product existed - I know what I'm doing after work. If it's anything like the magic eraser - it ought to be pretty awesome stuff.

Al,
I guess I can safely say you like the car a lot if you are in an S2000 club?

I was actually thinking about this being my next car as Honda occassionally runs incentive lease offers on the S2000 for $300 per month for 36 months. Twice the cost of my lil Civic...but twice the car too. :-)

Cheers,
Jim

Jim, it really is a great sports car. There really is no comparison to a Civic except in reliability. I drove my Civic based cars through every New England winter from 1975 to 2003 without snow tires. This car will not let you get away with that. Storage is adequate to take two figure type modelers to a two night event. The top drops and raises in under 15 seconds at the touch of a button. The seats are immensely comfortable and supportive.

Al,

You guys worry about the cost of gas in the states, you would not be so willing to drive such a nice red rocket in the UK, as I fear a trip to the filling station might just bankrupt you.

Al - Thanks for the info.

John - Ouch.... thanks for making me check. It gets 20 miles city and 26 miles highway mileage. Not good compared to my 34/38 Civic. But still better than the 12 miles per gallon my 1967 Pontiac Lemans got. :-)

The S2000 is the best bang for the buck for what it is - a sports car. Some owners treat theirs as such in regards to keeping it cooped up in a garage and driven on special occassions, etc. (which is fine!) My current S2000 is, however, a daily driver and I love it.

On a highway trip of 300+ miles each way, I averaged between 29 and 30 mpg top down, in cruise and moving with the traffic flow. Using this for work (city driving) and fun, I tank up once a week.

Off the top of my head Al I think it works out about $8 a gallon in the UK.

So yours is not too expensive when you take ours prices into account, I think it was about 90 pence per litre the other day when I filled up.

Err...ya but with the echange rate the way it is you guys make twice as much as we do. So you can afford it!
