Hi Rick,
Its definitly worth the trip. I have made the trip down from Barrie the last 2 years. There are lots of things for us military modelers to do (ie spend money on :-) ) Most of the major hobby shops in the GTA have a booth set up. You don't have to pay any tax so its great. I found a few bargains last year. I even met a couple other members Mojo and Clanky44 who was doing some demos on airbrushing.
They used to have model clubs put up displays which was great but last year they wanted to charge them like $800 so most of them said forget it. Too bad really cause it was great to see other peoples builds and meet fellow moders.
Its also fun to get around and check out the other stuff thats there. All in all its a great time.
Jeff

Hey Rick,
Cant add much more to Jeff's reply. I had a great time last year. Nice to meet the guys, we sat and yakked for a few minutes which was cool... I will be going down again this year with a few buddies I think.. They are into RC stuff.. I think they are weird.. *L* But im sure if you go you will find something that tickles your fancy..

Personally, I found the show to be "hit and miss". Especially since they started charging the local model clubs for their displays

Though going to their link, they now say they supply "free space" to local clubs
http://www.thehobbyshow.com/freespace.htm
Since Military Hobbies sold to North Star (the deals aren't there). It just hasn't held the same attraction for me.
One of the bright spots is Vanwell Publishing (a military book publisher and dealer from St. Catherines) is usually there and they have some great research books!
A buddy of mine is into collecting metal scale cars so I might go if he is into it...
Cheers, Michael

I will be going for sure.
For me and I am sure Dave (Mojo) will agree its a great way to well...spend money.
Up in our neck of the woods we don't really have those fancy LHS like they have in the city so its kind of nice to have everything under one roof. I manged some good deals last year so I was pretty happy.
I also really enjoy all the other stuff thats there. RC, Trains, Cars, etc.
I am really looking forward to taking my son there in a few years.
Cheers,
Jeff

Jeff,
Sorry you couldn't make it down to the Ajax show, but family always comes first
I managed to enlist my daughter to help carry all great deals I found at the show!! Have a great time at the THS!!
I may sound cheap, but admission to the THS is $12.00 each???

I went to the Toronto show last year, and I will probably not ever return. It wasn't really impressive for modelers. The retailers set up their tables selling....exactly the same stuff I see in stores every time I'm there, so nothing really new. Further, it's a hobby show that appeals to all hobbies, not just military modelling, and as such, our area was a little under-represented, as most of the show caters to the RC crowd, with some interesting tidbits thrown in.
Personally, I found it a disappointment.
