Just out of curiosity, has anyone tried airbrushing with oil paints?

If you are talking about artist oils, I have reduced with mineral spirits to make a wash and sprayed with an AB.

That's exactly what I'm talking about. I was applying some washes today using artist's oils thinned with mineral spirits and I wondered why I had never seen any mention of airbrushing with it. So how did it turn out for you, Don? Did you use it for the color coat or weathering or what? I see that you used it as a wash, but I'm not sure whether you're just referring to the consistency of the paint you sprayed or the use you put it to.

I'm curious !!
How did it turn out. I've never even considered it. I'd love to hear feedback.

I don't know if I'd use it for a wash technique simply because I want a different paint finish look , but why not a preshade or an overall filter.

I'm sure I wouldn't use it for a wash as I can't think of how an airbrush would work for that, but it seems that it would give really good control for filters--especially to achieve subtle variations on different panels and such. What I'm really wondering, however, is how it would work not only for preshading but for the color coats as well. I mean, considering the complete versatility of oils as to thinning agents and the resulting finish, not to mention the infinite range of colors, is there any reason not to use them?
