Hi all
I hope this is the right place for my question if not sorry
I'm wanting to do a wee dio of an aircraft doing a payload drop,I'm not sure if it's going to be supplies or a vehicle.
The question is what is the easiest way to scratch parachutes either fully open or semi-open as they can be a fiddly shape to play with.
Any help would be appreciated

I'm not sure if this will work, but I've had this idea for a while.

Inflate a small balloon and carefully drape some PVA glue impregnated string over it to simulate the risors. Add some tissue paper in a sort of papier mache manner. Once the whole thing is dry, deflate the balloon and you should have an open parachute.

I read an article in a modelling magazine about making break-parachutes for jetplanes.
I don't remember it too well but i think it involved golf or tabletennis balls.

I'll have a look if I can find the magazine and then tell you.
Greetings,

ekke

[edit]
Found it.
That guy in the article uses a golfball-like form made of modelling plaster. Of course thesurface structure depends on the type of parachute you want do rebuilt.
He then cuts streaks of tissue paper and puts them in white glue and after that places them on the form. The ropes are made of strong wire to hold the parachute in place.
It's pretty much the same method as used to make canvasses for military vehicles.

I hope this helped a bit. greetings,

ekke
