Price being no object, I'd have to say the Canon 5D. It has a full size sensor, unlike the others mentioned, meaning it is a true 35mm SLR. Also, it has 12.3 mega pixels. However, it is much more expensive then the other cameras mentioned.

We just got in our new Nikon D80 Digital SLR yesterday. I shot a few quick shots for a kit I am reviewing with it. I had it set on the 5 Mpixel setting. The detail is amazing. There are a few areas I want to really zoom in on, so I am going to re shoot those on the full 10 Mpixel setting.

But if you can't swing the D80, I would say go for a D50. We had looked at that one, but went with the D80. We also needed one to take some high quality images of my wives pottery.

Nikon D50, no doubt about it. I'm good at framing a photo and getting the proper angle, lighting, etc, this camera does the rest and I have taken some wonderful photos...

We have a Canon PowerShot S2 IS.
With macro and super macro options for close up model detail photography.
Also super zoom for pictures of trains from a safe distance.
And of course the video option for movies...

The power supply are four AA batteries and not a rare, weird, hard to find, battery pack.
The memory card is the newer tiny cards. I don't know what they are technically referred to.
