My wife and I have really gotten into this the past year or so when we accidently stumbled across one of these just off an abandoned railway trail near our house.

For those that don't know its a world wide scavenger hunt that involves the use of a GPS unit to find caches that other people hide and then post the co-ords online for you to find.

This is the site which will explain it much better then I can..... Geocaching

Its a great way to get some exercise and see some places that I never knew exisited in my own backyard. We even pack up my 7 month old son in his backpack and take him along.

Just curious if anyone else does this.

I checked the site and will now check on the cost of a gps..I think this would be a great way to spend time that I get to see my daughter.

Right on John

Its a heck of alot of fun and gets quite addicting once you get into it.

Some of the caches are quite clever.

Don't get to discouraged at first. It takes some practice to use the GPS and to also find the cache. Once you get the hang of it you start knowing what to look for and it gets somewhat easier. Make sure you know what you are looking for also. Usually the description will tell you what kind of container it is in.

My wife and I were out on the weekend and did a couple crazy caches.

One involved me putting on rubber boots to walk in a creek under a bridge as it was hidden in the bridge supports.

Took us forever to figure out where the heck it was to begin with!

Like I said its a great way to see places that you never knew exsisted. Hope you enjoy yourself and have fun.

Jeff

Received the unit yesterday and am now trying to figure out how my new toy works. Can see I'll be wandering aimlessly on our first go round.

Will it work in the truck, so we know where we are, as opposed to where we should be? :-) :-)
