Here are some photos of some of the many models that were present at the South Island Championships 2006.
Royden Muirhead (IPMS Southland): Best in Show. 1:9 Ducati Desmo 900
Darryl Lew (IPMS Dunedin): Display only. Honey Mk I Diorama
Lester Kidd (IPMS Southland): Silver P-47D
Barry Cornish (IPMS Dunedin): Scratchbuilt 1:9 Scale PaK40. Display only. Magnificent. The photo doesn't do justice to the workmanship.
Barry Cornish: Scratchbuilt FlaK 18 (?). Barry has scratchbuilt several items of German artillery, and is currently working on a 1:9th scale GMC Quad and 25 Pdr. He chose not to enter the competition, for the understandable reason that his models are disassembled for transportation and need to be reassembled for display.
Royden's Ducati deserved 'Best of Show'. Beautifully assembled, painted and detailed, there was very little for the judges to find wrong! Royden is also a member of Armorama.

Thanks Sean; there were some amazing models on show. It's hard to show the wormanship that went into Royden's Ducati - unfortunately much of the 'carbon fibre' detail is hidden under the fairings. Plus I forgot to take notes on who pilots the real machine!
Barry's workmanship extends to having the details of the electrical equipment hidden behind the housings that can be seen on the cradle of the 88.
(Unfortunately it has taken an age to download the photos, thanks to NZs primitive internet speeds. Our club secretary, who has most of the photos, has run out of his allowed broadband resources and has been forced to download via dial-up.)
