Long time member and contributor Keith Magee opened his Hobby Store today. As an avid model builder, he knows what we want. Only 2/3 of his stuff is in, and though he is open, the Grand opening will be 15 October. Everything that made Phil's HObby Shop great here in Dallas will be incorporated except one thing. You won't be paying full Retail on stuff. As a member of the Dallas Platoon, we now have a room set aside for our little club to meet, so those in the region come on up. Did I say any thing about special discounts for members ?!!!!!!!!!!!!

And when Hobby LObby has a 40 or 50 % sale................................

Hey YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hands off the 350 scale HOOD!!!! I'll break your fingers!! :-) :-)

Just curious, --- once Keith is up and running will there be a hobby shop web site for those of us too far away to stop in? I believe he already has a site for some of his products -- but I was wondering if those of us here might be able to drive some business into his shop by placing orders over the Net?

Good luck.

Its great news to see a new LHS open. Usually the news is that they close - this is good news.

Keith - grand opening (10/15) and a vendor profile would be a cool thing.

Steve:

I honestly don't know. I think he will. I won't see hm for a couple of weeks.

Send him a PM. He has a full time job as well as this hobby shop, so his time on the internet and visiting Armorama is less frequent so don't expect a quick response. The shop still needs a lot of work, he hasn't gotten everything in yet. His paints are still in boxes as the racks aren't there, so things are still kind of hectic. He has a nice array of kits, though I only checked out what he had in 350 scale ships and we talked about the big Trumpeter rail related stuff. Personal opinion. Look for his prices to be in the vicinity of Sqaudron and Great MOdels.

I certainly wish him a hearty "Good Luck". It's nice to see a new place opening, and I hope the members will support him, not for the discount, but because he's a member.

I've very happy to say I was able to make the first purchase at Keith's new store. The store is just going to get better and better as more merchandize arrives and gets put out...more and better stuff for serious and semi-serious modellers, you betcha.

Sorry if this sounds rude but I hate mapquest and Iam bad when it comes to directions but I would really love for some decent driving instructions from Fort Hood area (Belton to be precise, sorry can't get a 10 digit grid cordinate) to this little piece of heaven in Dallas. I hope I can make it out there sometime.

The shop is at the corner of Preston Road and Campbell in Richardson, so the way I would come from Belton is take I-35 E north to Dallas, head east on LBJ Highway (aka I-635) to Preston Road, head north on Preston to Campbell, and turn right into the shopping center there. The Hobby Annex is in the middle of the "L" on the SE corner of that intersection.

Congrads to Keith...much success! Hope that you will "go online" at some point for those of us who don't live near.

Jim F, what's up with the funky avatar? :-) I thought I was the only one to pick the strange bearded guy :-)

Cheers,
Charles

For those who don't know it, we are moving club meetings to the store. Iam not totally sure if Keith plans to start them next week or wait a month, but I figure to go to store first as it is closer and then travel on to old site if I am wrong.
