Folks

I am moving to Brisane next week - well Beenleigh actually. For the last 10 years I have been a member of the Mackay Scale Modellors Club and will miss the fortnightly meetings.

Can anyone tell me of any Clubs around Beenleigh or the southside of Brisbane.

Phil (auburn) Derek from our Club has given me your details but I think that you live on the North side and quite a distance away.

I have virtuaslly no knowledge of the South side of Brissy and it is 14 years since I served a 4 year term there - so my memory is a bit hazy.

From next Saturday I will only be able to check in here sporadically (i.e. when I can get to an internet cafe) - but I will check in for responses.

Thanks

Brian

Brian,

IPMS is the only one that comes to mind in the Brisbane area, I'm certain their are others but I have not been to the Queensland Model Expo for the last couple of years.

If you can get a copy of ModelArt Australia and contact Frank, he maybe able to assist with who to contact.

Hope this helps.

hi brian,
as phil (auburn) may have given you club details already , i won't mention them again but., Brisbane scale modellers meet southisde of town now from memory and there is also riverside modellers who meet at bulimba.
both are good clubs and the members helpful from what i remember. i don't know you're interests but i'm sure either club will have
a member or two you'll be able to talk with about the hobby.
there's also ipms on the northside at aspley east and they too are a good club.
should you get along to Auburns club i look forward to meeting you
beenleigh isn't all that far away and from time to time we go to club members' houses on the southside which pass by you anway.
good luck with the club hunting
regards

Brian

AMMS (Australian Military Modelling Society) meets on the first Saturday of every month (our last meeting was this afternoon) at the Loganlea Community Centre, Timms St, Loganlea. Meetings usually start about 1:00pm This would be the closest club that I know of to Beenleigh.

By the way, you might not be aware that you have a model shop in Beenleigh - it's called Daft Crafts and Mad Models.

You other alternative is South East Queensland Modellers (SQM), who meet usually on the second Sunday of each month at the Birkdale South State School, starting at 10:00am Our next meeting is next Sunday (15 October)

AMMS concentrates entirely on military vehicles, SQM on all sorts.

If you drop me an email I can let you know how to get to SQM and I am quite sure you would be welcome next week.

Guys

Thanks for the responses. As you can see it is quite a while between visits to the internet cafe to catch up here.

Rob I'll send you a PM with my work email so I can grab some info from you.

Thanks again
