Hey all!

Do you guys know whether the above-mentioned kit would be suitable for representing a 6th SA Armoured Division Sherman in Italy ?

This being without any major modifications to the kit itself.

As far as I know S.A. only used the M4A1, 105mm Sherman and the Ic Sherman Firefly .

Any help appreciated!

Ciao!
Quintin

If you mean Dragon Kit#6083 M4A1(76)Wet (Operation Cobra), the answer is Yes!

Quintin, it depends on which M4A1 you mean. IIRC The M4A1(76) only starting showing up (front lines that is) in July 1944 and this was in France. IIRC Italy had a lower priority regarding equipment at this time.

The British weren’t fond of the M4A1 Wets and thus passed them down to the commonwealth forces.

With this said, toward the end of the war, the overwhelming majority of tanks in 6 SA Armoured were M4A1(Late). I have some more info on the subject of numbers of M4A1(76) actually supplied to 6 SA Armoured somewhere, I’ll get back to you with more info.

http://homepages.force9.net/rothwell/6SAdiv.htm has more info on actual events.
