Can't find another thread on this. Is this because the event doesn't attract AFV modellers any more? I was thinking of going for the first time this year, so wanted to hear other people's opinions on the matter.

Hi Nik
There is a lot of AFV stuff in the competition. Although the show appears to be mainly for figures, vehicles and diorama accessories do get a good look in, if I remember correctly when I went last year Dragon had a stand there, there is plenty to see. The book section is fantastic. (The bar isn't too bad either)

I am attending Euro, from the States. I'm going to be spending the weekend at Folkstone. I was also wanting to visit the Bovington tank museum, probably after the show. Question, is it possible to get to the museam from Folkstone by train?
Any help would be appreciated....

Hi Rick
This isn't very straight forward as I can see, I have been to Bovington a few times in the past and it is quite out of the way, especially as it is still an active army camp.
To travel by train you would have to go from Folkestone to London and then onto Bournemouth in Dorset, and this will take around three and a half hours, if there are bus services from Bournemouth to Bovington I couldn't say, otherwise it is getting a taxi from Bournemouth and that would cost a small fortune.
Or if hiring a car is an option, driving to Bovington direct would take around the same amount of time.
If you don't mind me asking, how long are you over for?
I hope that this is of use

Euro is a definate must, have just found the following info from the Dragon website;
http://www.dragonmodelsltd.com/DX06Europe/dx06europe_index.htm
Douglas Kay was a gunner in a Sherman Firefly, and he will be at Euro along with a release of his vehicle, (I'm assuming this vehicles markings are already available but it is still worth the trip)

Ross,
Thanks for the information. It's nice to have a bit of a heads-up. I've been trying to mapquest and look at the British Rail sites, but wasn't able to get a clear idea of what was involved.
I'm going to arrive in London the morning of the 20th, and fly out on the afternnoon of the 28th.
Again, Thank
Rick

Hi Rik
It's a good job you've got a week over here then !!
If I remember correctly from when I looked earlier, you'll have to train it from Folkestone to London Waterloo and then onto Bournemouth, but as I say it's the Bournemouth to Bovington part that causes the trouble.
If you need any further help I'll do my best, I won't be online until Monday now (just in case you think I'm ignoring you) !!
Have a nice weekend
Ross
