I was just at best buy and saw 2 copies of the movie The Downfall. Can or has anyone ever seen this movie? Also, will you please give me an accurate critique on the movie? Is it worth the $13.99 from Best Buy? I checked on ebay and it was $19.99.

Its quite realistic, theres no heros and you know the ending

I find it a great movie, but taste differs - price seems fair to me.

It's a great and realistic movie. Actually a masterpiece!
Original version is in German language (with subtitle option). Don't know if there is a english spoken version.
In Europe there are also 2 different copies of it: one is only the movie, the other is the movie together with some extra features about the movie (I believe "making off..." kind a stuff).

It's a great movie if you like reading subtitles Even with having to read the subtitles it was still a good movie.

I hate films with subtitles but I thought this film was so good I found I could put up with them, the only other film I've seen that had the same effect was Das Boot altough I now have a version in English.

My advice is buy it

A very good film; it's based on the life of one of Hitler's secretaries (Trudi Junge), who worked for Hitler from 1943 right to the last days in the Berlin bunker, concentrating on the latter. Really captures the cloud-cuckoo land combination of fanatical devotion to the Fuhrer and abject despair that prevailed in that place.

You do get English language versions, though I haven't found one here in Germany. I have seen some on the net.

OUTSTANDING movie, head back to Best Buy and get it now. Seriously, it's well worth the money. Don't worry about the subtitles, this movie done with english dubbing would ruin the movie IMO. Bruno Ganz is so damned good as Hitler, you really feel like a fly on the wall in The Bunker. Actually the entire cast does a phenominal job, it's definitely a keeper.

About subtitles, some movies work well with dubbing and others don't. This movie is one that needs to be heard in German, I can't see English dubbing doing it justice and conveying the emotions especially Hitlers tirades. Another movie that the dubbing was AWFUL in was Tae Guk Gi, it takes the emotions right out of the movie and that is a very emotional movie. Grab that one if you see it with Downfall at Best Buy, those are two magnificent war movies without all the overblown Hollywood CGI.
