Guys,
I've been a member for only some days now..... but after re-reading some of the posts, I found myself unhappy with the situation. I feel things are getting too serious.
That's why I step down as the winged pig. I request you to release me from my pig number.
Maybe it's just me, but I feel some of the recent posts are a threat to the good atmosphere over here. I can't unite with that feeling. Like I said...it's probably just my feeling, but I like to choose for fun without a brotherhood within this site.
Lonely, but happy, Eagle without a number

Hola!
Im not a member of the DSB, but ever since this group has formed an 'official' space within Armorama, conflicts and grouping has taken place. Something which has not happened in a full year (or close) during Armoramas history. I agree with Eagle and his statement that it may be a threat to the atmosphere at this community. Im not an opposer to the DSB, quite the opposite, do what ever tripps your trigger, but maybe try to tone it down a mite.
Now, some of you may think I have no right to post this but it is just my feelings for the well being of Armorama, which to me is a priority, and not against the DSB.
Ive said my 2¢ and probably some more
Hope no feelings are hurt or toes stepped on, if so, my sincire appologies.

From chatting with the founding members of the DSB, I have come to understand a bit more about the situation and I think I should share some of this with you so you won't look upon the Bund with such bad taste.
I think many new pigs and outsiders were disappointed with the treatment of a certain member. He brought forth an idea in one of the general forums which embarassed the founding pigs (schweinbruden), who saw it as disrespectful to Jim. This came just a week after Jim had been kind enough to give the DSB their own forum, for which we are forever grateful. So greatful, in fact, that emotions took over instead of reason for a moment. There were a couple other reasons this member was initially put on the chopping block, but I think this is the one that most of you are familiar with. What should be more important, though, is that cooler council did ultimately prevail and a full apology was issued, not too late to save the reputation of our group, in my opinion. In short, these "conflicts" (somewhat blown out of proportion by those not in the know) came to be mainly because of the gratitude and a sense that since this is a public forum we must be somewhat controlled in what we say on the site. The DSB stands for being kind to fellow members and not insulting them as well as having a good sense of humour, but unfortunately these values were exactly what we appeared to be lacking in the thread everyone seems to be reading (and re-reading?).
It was hoped (and in my naiveté I believed) that the apologies and statements that this issue was over and we were moving on would indeed allow us to regroup and work towards a better start. Unfortunately, others continue to bring the issue up and some have given up on our fledgling group (though overall it continues to grow in population) instead of aiding in its ascendency. We have all heard that Rome was not built in a day, nor was the United States of America off to a very auspicious beginning in the first years of its existence, but they became great and improved because people stuck with the idea and saw it through. Pigs stand for something, too. We don't worry about being politically correct, yet at the same time (as I have mentioned) we treat all with respect. We are about having fun and NOT being too serious, particularly when it comes to modelling. We believe modellers can be artists and are not forced to simply recreate in every detail an actual object or event (having said that, rivet counters are welcome, as long as they keep an open mind to the work of others; I like to go crazy an making some of my models super-accurate as well). Right now, the founding members are indeed disappointed with the turn recent events have taken and do concede that what we have seen in the past week is not what we want the DSB to be. Pak40, in his infinite wisdom, has already made a declaration that we will return to the original silliness and comradery of the old unofficial DSB. This is possible with your cooperation (which is why we want to bring this issue which I am addressing to an end, for once and for all) and without too much effort (I think it's easier to have fun when you don't try too hard). I'm not begging for new members or for wavering ones to return (indeed, we want to keep the group relatively small and close-knit) but I am saying that if you give us another try, you will have a different and much more enjoyable experience.
Thank you,

to Eagle,
I am asking you to give us another chance. I said in a recent post that i want to get back to the original intent of this little group. that is, fun and no rivet counting. i am dissapointed we let this happen and will try not to let it happen again. if you do not change your mind we release you with our blessing and much tears. if you stay, i know it is better, because i made the suggestion to keep this a lowkey forum. well, whatever you do i want to remain friends.
Thanks, Chris

Chris,
Ofcourse we will remain friends. My stepping down has nothing to do with individuals. I think you're all fantastic guys. It's only the thing that I feel uncomfortable in a "select" group within this site. I hope the tide turns and the fun will get back like you asked.
My home is Armorama. I'll join whatever is on the site that has my interest, but I feel no need to join another group within the site itself. You'll find my reactions in DSB threads in future too, but I feel no need to walk around with a number behind my name. I'm Eagle and I decided that if I want to make a sound it will be an Eagles Squeeeek in stead of an Oink.
My stepping down maybe tells more about me than it does about the DSB, but I feel more comfortable this way. I'll remain the Eagle I always have been..... adding knowledge, opinions, solutions, thoughts and ....... fun to this site where ever I can.
So no hard feelings from this side. Let's all work hard to keep this site the best on the planet and beyond.
