thse pics are so recent that the paint is'nt dry yet :-) there are two more decals to go on the tender when it does, but apart from that, my first rail build is complete. i built it oob apart from the rail that goes around the boiler, which was a moulded on thing that would only look right if you look at it straight on, from any other angle it looked like a small delta wing! i shaved it off apart from where it would be attached to the boiler, drilled holes through, and replaced it with some plastic rod

That does look nice Phil, are you going to weather it (I might have already asked that). The replacement hand rail certainly makes a difference Hows the other engine comming on?
I might start posting pics of the engines I build, I'm in the middle of building Roundhouse's latest offering now, a lively young thing called Linda

Nice one Phil.
You have made a dodgy looking kit that we all laughed at a very nice display piece.
Are all those red lines painted or decals.

cheers andy, this has come together quite nicely with just a little tweaking and some exellent reference pics i found (this engine is still running today) the lines are hand painted on raised sections, it was like doing cockpit glazing at the end of the day
mal- no plans to weather this one, but my next one will be dirty-ed up, maybe pulling a freight load, while its more glamourous, better looked after celebrity sister engine makes it look even more scruffy. i found a firm who make coach models too, so these rail builds are turning into a long term project!
and by all means introduce us to the lively linda

She will be finished tomorrow, the customer will be picking it up in the afternoon. I'll get pics, if I remember to take my camera

You have one thing to do, and you forget, tsk tsk :-) .
So i thought I'll go onto Roundhouse engineering website and see Linda for myself. And what a beaut she is. I didn't realize how many different locos they built. I want everyone of them. I like big boys toys . Fantastic work.
Guess what else i found, a list of the staff.
Harri and Mal have a little bio, how i giggled :-) .

just let me get this straight-
mal, you get paid to do that as well? :-)
just had a look around the roundhouse site, and linda is a nice looking engine, i'd love to have a garden railway myself, but swambo wants boring things like flowers, decking and a lawn!
