This is my first night in the sty and Im probably going to upset some of you guys ......... which is not my wish or reason!
When I first heard of the DSB, I thought this would be brilliant and a bit of fun. I havent been able to join in as much as i would have like due to work and family commitments.
I was actually dissapointed when i entered the forum for the first time to see threads of banning members and ejection issues. I dont know the whole story but it all seems a bit heavy and so soon!
What is the wolves? I never heard of them!
But to me, a more serious issue is canvassing on behalf of a member to influence the group into voting for user of the month! This effects the whole armorama community. Believe me im not saying that this person is not worthy of the title. I just think this is not a "gentlemanly" thing to do! I feel, eventhough this may an independant group in many ways it should still carry the ethics of the site as a whole.
On the positive side, I really liked the forum and it has and will have an important part to play. Some great ideas have emerged and the newsletter (except for above) was brilliant. I also liked the idea of everybody putting their faces to the names, which makes it more personnal. i hope to add to it shortly as well!
Hopefully you will read this mail as my point of view/opinion and maybe something to consider in the future!

Hey Palsticbattle.
Your complaints are duly noted.
You will be taken out back and shot.
Actually, I am not authorized to do that.
#:-)
Anyway, your complaints are valid.
Regardind the group voting for one person for UOM, Dave merely suggested that we vote for Chris and outlined the reasons why. I wholeheartedly agreed. Since the vote is anonimous, I do not feel that the "contest" has been compromised in any way.
As to your other complaint, the DSB just felt that the person in question was behaving poorly and acted accordingly. We do live in a society that depends on courtesy and behavior, do we not?
Thank you for your thoughts,
Andrew

Quoted Text

I wanna makes it an official request to all the members to nominate Pak and vote him for user of the month, it's about time we consolidate our votes together to get a pig voted. You can say this idea/call is from me.

I think this is a bit stronger than "merely suggested that we vote". A court-martial may be needed! Thing is this is reminding me of the movie "a few good men". Who will be shot... me or him?

PlasticBattle,

It's from me, and if you know what's the reason behind this, you might not think this way. I am sorry that you feel that we are merely trying to get the pigs voted.

I made this call in the chat forum, and to many other sensible modellers, and if they deem that my suggestion/request is reasonable, maybe I am doing the right thing.

Having fun.

hey SS. the last thing i want is to brew a storm in a tea-cup. I only think its fair to voice my opinion. Im sure Pak40 is a first class candidate for the title of user of the month and i would not like to tarnish his achievemnet with any talk of a conspiracy. I believe every nominated figue is worthy.
A lot of people look up to you and admire your work and contributions here, me included, and could be influenced by your remarks. It would not benifit Pak if people believed he was voted number one, by influenced voters. He will take the title, if not this time, at a later stage anyway. I think even he, would not be 100% happy unless he got it on his own merits that has worked hard for over the last year.

This DSB group has the potential to become one of armorama“s successes and as a member, I only want it to be that. A fun group to be proud to be a member of, but yet fair and just.
I believe that it is possible to have a thread that stays top of the list of threads at all times and only moderators can add to it. It should contain the Sty constitution and all members are bound by it. Maybe we could have referendums on what it should contain.

Do not take any personal offence at my messages. This is for the good of the group.

Hi Plastic,

Thank you for your nice comment and understanding. I too place great confidence in our group, why, because we have good people.

Plastic, I am PMing you for the reason I want to do the campaign for vote thing, you might know a bit more why I did it.

Cheers, and glad to have you with us, our rusty tank expert!

people you are all free to do what you want no ? so i understand that user of the month is always a little bit unfair in your eyes
but i think that's a battle you can't win, it's democratie no ?

i'm not the kind of type that is always hooked up by a groop and i'm sure that you (plasticbattle) are the same type.

i always vote on mongo_mell, i'm sure he only get 2 vote's or something like that, but that's being gentlemanly. not because he's from the same group but just because he's talented and was one of the first kind people that spook to me.
my second vote depends : pak SS, octu, etc because they are the only guy's who chat most of the time with me.
not because the are high ranking

anyway you only can get user of the month once's no ?? so i'm sure within 20 years you are the new MOTM.
and with that DSB-club, it's a start and they wil make mistake what is common with starting a group and i'm sure that things will end peacefull.
about General Failure's "wolf " thing, it's just a little joke.

greetzzz

You know, I agree with Plasticbattle, and i publish the newsletter for the DSB, i know the reason why dave asked us to get together and nominate PAK, and i did as friend to PAK and respect him greatly withor with out the note in the newsletter. I think this funny because when it comes down to it, and Voting started i have to say I didn't vote for SS-74 or Pak40; sorry guys!!!!!!!!!!!! But, i voted for some on i enjoyed talking to other than them and helped in the forums and contributed to all of the site. Sorry guys!!!!!!!!but even if the DSB could all vote on one person...... last i checked we had about 40-50 members, i don't seem to think that; how ever American potitical systemish, we could sway a vote in site with 2000 members!!!!! The call was made and reasons stated as to why, but think about it!!!!!!!!!!!! Jim if this is seen as political operations in your dictatorship, we're sorry and well next month every one vote me!!!!!!!!!!!! BUWHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!! stug

to Plasticbattle:
i personally want to get back to the fun and silliness that we had back in the beginning of this little group. you are correct, some things have gotten way to serious, even for me. vote and do what you think is best, i think that is what i would want all my Pig Brethren to do. i do not want someone voting for me if they see someone who deserves it more, we Pigs are an independent lot, and that is the way it should be.
to Stuglllf:
you are absolutely right, your vote should be private. do not vote for me on someones say so. i want to earn it.
to dmd:
i do agree with you also, the group members should vote for their favorite person.

Chris

Good man Pak! It was more of a point rather than an issue... if ya know what I mean!
To be nominated and get to the final five is an achievement in itself. And also totally deserved! We have a lot more here to concern ourselves with, other than little squabbles. as you say... lets get back to the silliness and put this issue to sleep once and for all!
