Dropping a heavy object on your foot gives one a certain amount of experience but doesnt encourage doing it for a second time

Very true but there's no accounting for "daftness"

OK OK OK,,I get the message.
I'll go to the LHS on Monday when I take the car in to get the brakes done and I'll get myself a WW1 biplane.
Happy now? :-) :-) :-) :-) :-)

Hi Guys.
Job done, todays choice was the Revell Sopwith F-1Camel, and a roll of fishing line.
Phil,,the 5.5 refers to the breaking strain of the line, ie 5.5kg,,or 12lb in real money

I must be barking!!! :-)

my first ever attempt at rigging was a 1/72 camel, i used stretched sprue which i found hard going, so i eventually went over to fishing line. good choice mate! on the subject of the line there is something else on the label, but its helpfully been nearly ripped off, but it possibly says 9oz cos 12 lb is roughly 12 bags of sugar right? i can't imagine this line holding that weight. the actual spool itself is 5.5 cm across which maybe what it refers to (or just wild coincedence!)

Nice choice Nige, when can we epect to see some progress on this :-) .
That is right, it is 12lb breaking strain fishing line. As it has "Specimen" on the label, it is probably for Carp fishing. I normaly use 4lb line for fishing and rigging, unless of course i'm building a boat, then the girls hair comes in handy :-)8 :-) .

I'll make a start on it later in the week I think,as the kitchen table,,er I mean workshop,is a little crowded at the moment with the 3 builds I have ongoing at the moment.
Armed with the experience gained on the Tiger Moth it'll either go according to plan or spend the rest of its days back in the box stuffed in a corner with the TM.
I'll post pics when the build finishes,,one way or the other,,lol

nige, now you've bought this kit, and having seen your p 47 and your sea fury you should harass certain ww1and spitfire builders into a nmf build :-)

Phillip!,,If I didnt know better Id swear you were referring to a certain person who has just bought a 1:24 Mustang which is just crying out for about 4 bottles of Alclad?
Lets see what happens if and when I finish rigging the Camel, although I suspect by then a certain Halifax will have taken its test flight and said Spitfire builder will be enjoying shorts and chips,, :-)

Is that the set that includes the MK IX,,(JE J codes)?.
Ive got that in my stash and its the one kit I really dont think I'll ever build as it looks,,well,,horrible. Maybe its just mine? Id be interested how yours looks and if you manage to do anything with it.
Mal.
Good to hear your on a roll. Did you make a start on the Lancaster you picked up recently? Looking forward to seein them both in here and also in the flesh.
Murdo.

No, the Lanc isn't started yet, it is a comission build (which I'm not being paid for), it's for a mate at work and I have told him that I won't be able to start it until next year, at the earliest. I'm going to try and do it for when we break up at Christmas fingers crossed.
My next months MOM entry, is masked up and ready to go into the spray booth to have it's metal parts metalized. I will try and post some pics at the week end
