Murdo, the ones that haven't reached at least half their retail price!

Vinnie,

In order to have these bids continue at a good pace and you don't loose all of your hair may I suggest that for future items listed for bidding that you set a reserve price.

It appears from your last post that the minimum acceptable bids to the widow are half of the listed price on the AA site. Is this correct?

I would suggest if this is the case that the minimum reserve bid price start at half of the listed export price.

This might save a you a lot of extra effort going back and forth with bids and for bidders to have a little more knowledge of what they can expect in the bids.

Just a suggestion, keep listing those kits.

Is there any way you can post a list of the armour kits so everyone can take a look at what they might be interested in or keep an eye out for in future bids? I know this would be very manpower intensive and time consuming but it doesn't hurt to ask.

Hi Vinnie,

The thanks should be heading your way for getting this organised for the members here on site. It sounds like there has been very limited response which is very disappointing given the nature of what these auctions have been for.

Thanks for all your efforts.

Cheers

Could it be that the limited reponse is due to the limited scope of kits?

I really like all the modern AA kits that have been put up for bidding but as you all know they might have very limited appeal to the multitude of WW II modellers looking for Allied and Axis kits.

It could also be that many armour modellers are not experienced in building full resin kits and might be turning away from the bids.

It could also be that the kits are not going at rock bottom prices and some may expect a better deal to balance out the shipping costs to places outside the UK. Regardless of a good cause, most people still want to get a better than good deal.

For me, I am not going to bid on a kit that I really don't want or need just to place a bid. I know which kits I am keeping an eye out for and they haven't shown up yet and I don't know if they will. I want to bid, just on something I will actually build and not end up selling later.

You guys shouldn't get discouraged. There are 600+ kits and this is only the third lot of kits, not including the figures, that have been put up for bidding. It is also the summer time when folks have holidays and don't spend as much time modelling.

It appears that the bids are coming in within 3 days of the start of bidding. To raise the bidding bar set a reserve price, shorten the bidding time to three days, and add more kits to the list.

Happy Modelling.

HI Jason,

I must admit I'm a bit daunted at the thought of actually building a complete resin kit and I've only bid on kits I'm interested in and will fit in with current and future plans. Still with limited British stuff available in plastic I'm going to have to start building resin some time so whay not start now when there's a few quid to be saved.

You've got some good points there and I think having an idea of the starting price would be a useful, but you can always look the full price up on AA and work back 50%. However my bid on the ambulance was 42 pounds and the kit is listed at 84 pounds and 99 pence so it wasn't accepted. I never thought to up it by another 2 or 5 pounds as no one else seemed to be bindding on it. If it had gone for 65 pounds it would still have been a bargin.

Shorter bibbing might keep interest up but as Vinnie said he doesn't want to turn down late bids that might get the lady a bit more cash.

I'm not complaining I've got a couple of very nice kits to start with, that I hope will be within my skill level and live to bid another day as they say. If I save on what the VAT man would get then I'm getting a bargin, anything else is just a plus, so I'm well pleased.

Cheers

Ive been waiting myself to see if there are certain kits before pacing my bids. Even though Ive already seen some really cool looking kits up, they just arent my thing. So, when the German armor gets there, if there is any, I'll be there

Resin kits, especially those by AA, are very good overall. I find them more enjoyable than injection moulded kits for the details and the unique subjects. They are easy to modify, sand, and cut. Just ask questions when you start.

Most auctions have a starting bid price...or the seller wouldn't get the minimun that he or she wanted.

I appreciate the fact that you guys are open to my suggestions.

Alright...I gotta ask...what is "SWMBO"? I can fully relate to the sticker shock of ones purchases when the other half finds out{mind you, sticker shock on her behalf...I knew what I spent!}. I'm ducking currently so she doesn't see what I spent on ebay for a very much wanted old Nitto M4 high speed tractor kit{with an AFV long tom gun kit too as part of the auction}. Two digit figures are OK, but if she finds out that I paid $100.00 for both...{that's only 65.00 for the M4 T-18 kit with 35.00 for the long tom kit}

It stands for 'She Who Must Be Obeyed',..... some of us are fortunate enough to be married to 'SWLS' (She Who Lovingly Supports)

It's all about getting the balance right As long as I do my 'Obeying' bit, she's happy to do her 'Lovingly Supporting' part...

Don't forget to move your stash around regularly :-)

I guess I've got a good one, with the exception of big dollar purchases.
