I want to construct the machine guns and cannons on a 1/48 Fw-190 / Bf109... brass tube seemed a good bet but the thickness of the wall is too thick for 1/48. Can we get syringe needles anywhere? I think most pharmacies don't sell anymore as they're scared of druggies.

Your best bet would be to seek out a nurses help...
Do you have any friends in the medical field? They could probably get you as many as you need...If you don't, I have an Aunt that works in a blood lab, and if you know what size and how many needles that you need, send me a pm with your address and I'll see what I can do!

Bro for syringe needles, try pharmacy or beach road. We use to get it to make our cyalume straws
