While reading the scale converter thread, I was reminded of a gem in my bookmark list.

Those who are interested in scratchbuilding might find some useful information at JimBob Wan's Image Dept (http://www.jimbobwan.com). While this site is based around a mad scientist's depravity concerning projects based on 1/6 scale figures (GI Joes), there are some good hints, suggestions and lessons to be learned. Buried treasures include sculpting techniques, working with resin, metal crafting & forging, making & using a home-made vacuum forming machine and bench-top metal plating through electrolysis. I've definitely learned a little over the past couple of years.

A lot of his stuff is fantasy based, but there is also a fair number of WWII projects and reviews. There are also some links to other 1/6 custom builders if you're looking for the perfect uniform to match you're new large scale project.

Oh yeah...his scale calculator (which is really good if going from one scale to another...say from 1/35 to 1/16 or even larger) can be found at:
http://users2.ev1.net/~jimbobwan/scalcalc.htm
There is also a simple mix ratio calculator for those who like to work in resin, yet wanna be lazy and use a single measuring cup:

Look at the Generic Fantasy Warrior articles for information on thermo/vacuum forming and electro-plating. The Dark Knight and King Arthur projects had good info on the vacuum forming. The GI Joe section has some great scratchbuilt equipment and uniforms.
