hey

i was bored the other night and decided to use some of my basla wood and this is what i made.
gate with nails,nails made from 10 amp wire pushed in and super glued down.

fences and the to gates.

They look to be of a good scale
For the curved gate, you could use a stencil to get an accurate arc...
Simply draw the items to scale on paper, and then fit the balsa over your drawing, marking and cutting to fit... You can still mark your gate arc and then trim with a blade to suit, top and bottom...

Hi Matt.
Have to agree with Brad about the gate curve. Still can be done and would look a lot better.
The nails look great, but should be present now in all joints. In image 3, only the top fence has them and the bottom fence and x section doesnt.
How have you planned to paint this? If you are going to stain the wood, any residue glue will show up clear as day around the nails and joints. It may be best to use something with a point and "draw" in the wood texture on the balsa and then paint them. Washing and drybrushing will them bring out all the details nicely, including the nail work

i was only trying them out on that one but will be finshing them.
