Hi guys, I'm working on a Dragon Firefly Vc, my first attempt at a Sherman, and I'm not about to struggle through these insane indy tracks...

DOES ANYBODY OUT THERE HAVE SOME FIREFLY RUBBER BAND/VINYL TRACKS!!!!

I would love to buy a set off of you.

Any leads appreciated...

Cheers,
E

Hi Eddie,

Not 100% sure but I think the AFV Club make the rubber band type tracks.

Here's a link to netmerchants where at least you should be able to view them.

http://www.netmerchants.co.uk/section.php/541/0/89fddc2b09e10cfc90ad573d44cbed77

The AF35028 T49 Tracks for VVSS M4 Extended Body should be OK for the Firefly and they are not too expensive.

Hope this helps.

If you need a good home for the Dragon ones I'be be happy to take them off your hands!!

Cheers

Al

PS. I noticed you can change the currency to dollars and I know Mike deals a lot with the US, so they should be ok. From A UK point of view, they are my main supplier and have always given me excellent and fast service.

Something to be aware of about the tracks...

I've only done one firefly and I used the indy tracks but in my reasearch I have filed the following information for future use...

Sherman VC were M4A4's..

The M4A4 had a longer hull than other Shermans due to its large Chrysler multibank engine.

In my researching other kits I've come across the information that the tracks from other M4's kits may not fit the M4A4 chassis without either moving the drivewheels inward a bit, or extending the tracks by approx 5 links...

Here is a quote from cookie sewells review on the M10 Tank Destroyer....

Start quote...

I still love Sprue "H". This is a really useful set of bits, and includes the following items: a pair of five link "extenders", similar to those found on the old MP Models M4A4 hull, so the vinyl tracks can fit on an A4 chassis;

end quote..

Cookie Sewells reveiw of the M10.

He is refering to the extra's spruce that comes with the M10 and says that with the link extenders the track could fit on a M4A4 hull..

I don't have any spare M4 tracks but if you find that you need to lengthen any track you get I have the "track extenders" from the extra's spruce from the M10 you could have. They appear to be T62 Chevron steel tread, with rivetted links. but with some work you could prob make them look like whatever you wanted as long as you hid them on the top run..

If you do find you need them just send me a PM and let me know..

later
Delbert.

Hi again,

Re Delberts posts above.

The tracks I've directed you to are for the M4A4 which is the hull of the firefly and as specifically quoted are 'extended tracks' suitable for the M4A4, Firefly and others so should be fine.

You need the AF 35028 set.

Cheers

Al

Hi Delbert,

No problem, it made me double check my post, I'd keyed in the wrong number first time so it was actually a big help.

As far as I can tell those AF 35028 would be fine, they seem to be specifically for the extended body but as I've never used them and I'm no expert a double check was very useful.

Cheers

Al

Thanks guys! Just the info I was looking for. As this is my first Sherm I'm pretty ignorant about aftermarket stuff for these...and I would have never known about those track extenders...a good thing to know for the future.

Thanks again guys,
Cheers,
E

Just remember the "track extenders" are not needed if you buy aftermarket tracks for the M4A4.. they are only needed to extend the rubber band tracks for other variants of shermans that have the standard hull size and want to make them fit a M4A4 hull...

Just a word to the wise, but even though the tracks are for the extended body Sherman, Dragon made their original M4A4/Firefly VC too long and the AFV Club extended tracks will not fit because they are made the proper length for an M4A4.
