Hi all.
This is the excellent Tamiya P47D Bubbletop in 1/72.
Painted and decalled in the markings of Maj Gen W E "Bill" Kepner.Commanding general of VIII Fighter Command. This was his own personal transport and was named Kokomo.Kepner was later to command the 2nd Bomb Division and Kokomo remained his runaround, being based at Hethel in Norfolk, close to Kepners HQ.
As its finished to represent a personal aircraft of a high ranking USAAF officer,it would have been kept in pristine condition by the ground crew and Ive tried to show this in the general finish.
Its painted in Alclad polished aluminium and Tamiya acrylics.
Its by far the best model Ive finished so far and Im really pleased with it.
As always,,please feel free to add any constructive critisism and comments/advice.
Here are the pics,,as edited by Jean Luc.

nice one, mate! did you use any gloss or matt coats on the alclad? or can you decal straight on the alclad and leave it at that?

Thanks guys.
Im really pleased with the result.
Phil.Apart from the cowling where the decal overlapped onto the acrylic, all the decals were applied staight onto the alclad.
Heres one of a new set of photos I took today in natural light

looks awsome in natural light Yep Allclad is a great base for decals. Nige You have me wanting to do another NMF, but what: P-47, P-51, E.E. Lightening or F.104 Starfighter?

Hi Mal.

Mal

After seeing how the Alclad works first hand,Im very tempted to break with my Warbird habit and build an E E Lightning myself.
Im going to make a start on my Sea Fury for the Suez Campaign later today and that will also be a NMF.The kit is the PM Models one and Im not sure how good its going to be.If its a honker Im going to bin it and order the Special Hobby version from Hannants.
This is going to be a lot dirtier bird than the P47 and Im going to use 3 different shades of Alclad on it and try my hand at some of Andys NMF weathering techniques.
Tamiyas new P47 M in 1/48 looks a real treat if you fancy joining the P47 club.Have you seen Cpt Kelleys rendition over on the main aircraft forum?
