ok I have two questions now: first, where do you get you guys get your sand paper at? I can only find grit as high as 600. Second, how do you sand a joint where there is detail very close to it without messing up the detail, like on an aircraft?

I get my sandpaper at Walmart in the auto paints section. They have some very fine grit sandpapers in large packages and they're cheap. As far as sanding a joint near fine details. Sometimes you can just mask it off with tape and then sand it. Of course this may not work for your joint, depending on its placement and the types of detail. HTH

I get my high # sand paper at Lowes in the Paint section. You can get 400 grit and 600 grit you can get wet or dry. You get it in big sheets, almost 8"x8" so it'll go far. I also get small 3"x3" squares from Testors at the local hoppy shop.
