Congrats Mike!

Is this your first?

As someone else who is a new dad I know how you are feeling right now. I think it took a week to get rid of that stupid smile from my face. :-)

Then of course reality set in!

Its been great so far though. Just get through the first 6 weeks and it gets so much better.

Cheers and good luck!

This is our second girl so the old habits are starting to come back. Her big sister is a big help. My wife is having to change all the dipers because I only have one working hand for the moment! She is a real happy baby so that helps. What sucks for me is that I can't actually pick her up.

True, but you can lie on the couch and have your wife place her on your chest for her post meal nap. That way you bond and take a load off your wife for a while. One hand is all you need to hold them there while they sleep.

Having my kids sleep on my chest while I watched TV for their first 6 months or so was one of my favourite things. My wife actually thougt it was a good way of helping her, but it was pure gravy for me, let me tell you!

One of the small silver linings of your recovery will have to be that you are home more to enjoy this time with both your kids. Not picking them up is a bummer, but just being there is pretty d**ned good, and sure beats being at work most of the day instead.

Good going Mike and congrats.

I had to smile when I read this. My 3 and half month old son Owen is sleeping on my chest as I try to type this. Makes it rather hard to type but I don't care.

I was suposed to put him to bed 45 minutes ago but I am enjoying this to much. Life is good at these moments.

They do grow up fast. Our 6 year old now wants to wear make up! She also has blue eyes and blonde hair with my height. One armed or not ain't no boys coming near her You are right though, it is nice having her sleep on my chest especially when she smiles in her sleep!

Hey, Mike, I'll also add my congratulations! Exact same weight as my first daughter when she was born too. Can't believe mine will be 7 in July already, they really do seem to grow up fast. Enjoy them as babies while you can.

Cheers,
Jim

Congrats, Mike!

I hope the whole family is doing well and I know you'll keep that hand totally bandaged, even after it's totally recovered, so that the poopie diapers won't come your way!

Congrats Mike! Hope the hand is getting better too.

We have our first one due in January. I still haven't wrapped my head around the idea of being a dad.
